Global Playground

Learning starts here.

Project Date: 2006-2010
Team: Refresh / Global Playground

Global Playground is a DC-based nonprofit that shares resources with people of the developing world to create educational opportunities where they do not exist. I had the opportunity to help get this nonprofit up and running as a founding board member in 2006, alongside several fellow classmates from the College of William and Mary. I also orchestrated their brand identity, web strategy, graphic design, and fundraising campaigns.

In 2008, Global Playground built its first school in the Greater Kampala region of Uganda as a collaboration with Building Tomorrow (also a W&M endeavor). Since then, Global Playground has built schools, libraries, and community centers in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines, and Honduras. Each of these locations shares a common set of values and learning goals, an online network to share stories and cultural ideas with partner schools in the United States, and a strong fellowship program for college graduates to make a difference in these communitities around the world.
