Juno award-winning composer Vivian Fung delights audiences with her textured, soaring works all over the world. A long-time friend of Metropolis Ensemble (a NYC-based orchestra I have worked with since 2006), Vivian layers in the sounds of non-Western folk music into her compositions, including gamelan touches, Tibetan chant, opera, and tango.
Vivian and I collaborated over two seasons (2013-14 and again in 2020-21) to reimagine her web presence and brand identity into a stronger digital ecosystem and modular templates that can easily adapt and grow as her career continues to soar to new heights.
Her extensive music catalog now features relational data structures to help make it easier to discover new works across a variety of themes and instrumentations. The ethno-musicological research section of the site explores folk music in southeast Asia and features behind-the-scenes insights that inform Vivian’s approach to composition, identity, and place.
